Our Involvement

Pacific Tiger Group appointed us to support the construction of the 3rd longest span stressed ribbon bridge in the world.

The 230m, two-span bridge, each spanning 115m, is located within a nature resort on top of Penang Hill, Malaysia and is set within a 150-million-year-old rain forest.

At its highest point, the bridge is 45m from ground level and spans through the jungle tree canopy. The bridge is one of only 50 stressed ribbon bridges worldwide making benchmark designs and construction methodology difficult to reference.

Given its location, and the constraints working within a protected hillside environment, the bridge design presented several unique challenges. Our designs, allowed for the successful construction of the bridge, which has now become a major attraction on the resort of Penang Island.
