Our Involvement

SFMGC appointed us to provide structural designs for the construction of four car parks commissioned by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.

Designed by world-renowned architect Christian Kerez, the three multi-storey car parks are the first to be created on the Pearl Path in Muharraq. The project will not only provide parking for the city’s residence and visitors to the site but is part of a wider preservation and development project that builds on the legacy of the city of Murharraq.

The car parks were designed to not only provide essential parking but serve as public spaces, whilst providing a constantly changing spatial experience for the driver.

Our design incorporated post-tensioned concrete slabs which allowed the architect to create his vision of curved slabs that give a continuous transition from one level to the other.

Our bespoke solution also allowed all levels of the car park to be interconnected via the slab profiles, eliminating the need for specific ramps.
