EDGE provided specialist structural engineering for Sinolanka Hotels’ landmark 6-level development in the heart of Kandy. Our scope focused on post-tensioned structural design, enabling large, open spaces while ensuring efficiency and durability. A key feature was achieving 11m clear spans, creating flexible, column-free layouts ideal for lobbies, dining areas, and event spaces.
The design addressed Kandy’s unique challenges, including seismic considerations and heavy rainfall, delivering a safe, robust structure built for longevity. Through precision engineering and advanced post-tensioning techniques, we optimised material usage, reduced structural depth, and minimised costs for this $25 million USD project without compromising on architectural intent or structural performance. This project highlights EDGE’s expertise in applying innovative structural solutions to deliver cost-effective, high-performance buildings in complex environments.
