Our Involvement

Mace appointed us to provide post-tensioned specialist advice for the redevelopment of 44 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, which sits in the centre of the London School of Economics.

The nine-storey building, with rooftop pavilion introduced a deeper basement box constructed within the existing basement with a clever structural solution which would accommodate the significant feature transfer system. This system involved the creation of structural transfer trees at first and third floor which formed the centre piece of the building, allowing the reduction of the column in the upper levels.

By designing an innovative post-tension framing system, we helped to resolve Mace’s complex construction and sequencing issues.

The £140m project received the 2020 Concrete Society Outright Winner Award and the Post-tension Association 2021 Project of the Year Award.
