Moda Living wanted to create a new 34-storey PRS tower, comprising of 325 apartments providing high quality living facilities and amenities.
Appointed as civil and structural engineers, the development was no mean feat due to the project’s location which not only lay on a congested dockland plot bound by roads to the North & South, but formed part of the wider Liverpool Waters regeneration project.
Having initially reviewed and value-engineered the previous engineers, we provided detailed structural designs, including post-tensioned solutions and a pile raft slab which allowed us to keep intact a listed and underground dock wall.
Our civil solutions included foul sewer and surface water hydraulic modelling for the 34-storey tower. The surface water needed to be designed sustainably and restricted in flow rate to allow the re-use of an existing submerged outlet into Princess Dock. Alongside this, we designed an access road that reused the old reclaimed and listed cobble sets.
Now complete, the project has become an icon of the Liverpool skyline.
