Our Involvement

Rembrandt House, in Watford stood largely empty for the best part of two decades, and its Edwardian façade had been allowed to fall into disrepair.  We were appointed by Henley Homes to aid the careful restoration of the building and create 46 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Achieving modern contemporary apartments within an existing structure that had been vacant since the 1980’s was challenging and given several apartments were placed within the roof structure, we needed to conduct detailed inspections to ensure the suitability of the alterations. Our designs needed to be sympathetic to the historic nature of the original building whilst ensuring the structural design alterations such as the additional mezzanine level within the existing roof space could be included.

The Works transformed the high-ceilinged and light-flooded interior into 43 apartments, some with mezzanine levels, while retaining and restoring the beautiful exterior.
