This project is currently under construction and will be a state-of-the-art building and home to the School of Film, Music & Performing Arts, which includes the internationally renowned Northern Film School, as well as the School of Art, Architecture & Design’s fashion provision. The building will include studios, a theatre, and a 220-seat cinema.
Built on a site with a 4.5 metres fall, the design adapts to these level changes. The theatre and cinema spaces require large column-free zones, which have required deep transfer beams throughout the building. EDGE was appointed to design the floor slabs in the building and transfer structures.
